NewTechMD is a health care technology blog started by Porter Welbourne, MD.  Dr. Welbourne is a practicing internal medicine physician with a lifelong interest in science and the application of technology to the real world problems faced by health care professionals and health care consumers.  Since we all consume health care in one way or another, we all have concern about how new developments may impact our lives. After years in medical  practice and countless hours reading scientific journals, popular magazine articles, talking with colleagues, patients and surfing the expanse of the internet, he wants to share tidbits of things that intrigue him with those who share the fascination.
